This simple shrimp sauce recipe makes it easy for you to throw together a shrimp cocktail appetizer in about two minutes. You can use fresh shrimp from your local market, but frozen, deveined shrimp with the tail on works just as well.
-1/2 cup ketchup
-2 teaspoons prepared horseradish (in the refrigerated section of your grocery store)
-8-10 fresh or frozen shrimp
This recipe makes enough for one to two servings, so you'll need to double or triple the recipe for the number of guests you have. I use this recipe in a pinch and pull frozen shrimp out of the freezer--if you have smaller shrimp, just use smaller dishes to hang them off of.
Unthaw your shrimp by placing them in a bowl and running them under cool water, draining the water off and repeating until they're no longer frozen. You don't want to use hot water because it actually warms the shrimp rather than keeping them cold.
In a large bowl, mix up the ketchup and horseradish. Spoon into your serving dish and hang your shrimp off the side. That's all there is to it. You can also use this easy sauce for grilled shrimp, shrimp scampi, or deep fried shrimp.
